Gemotions

The gentle rhythm of the waves crashing on the beach lulled David into a near stupor. He sprawled on the sand, the warmth soaking into him. Across the beach, Maya was collecting seashells, her laughter carried on the salty breeze. He'd been drifting this way for an hour, basking in the simple joy of their holiday. A worn notebook lay discarded beside his towel. He idly picked it up.

"Bucket List," it announced. He flipped it open. "Visit the Amazon rainforest. Learn to speak Spanish. Swim with dolphins." He could almost imagine her, terrified but exhilarated, surrounded by the rainforest. He chuckled.
